After boiling an egg don’t just pour the water away.

Instead, wait for the water to cool and use it on house plants or in the garden – it is rich in calcium from the egg and will benefit your plants. Broken egg shells have sharp edges and are a useful barrier to slugs around delicate plants like hostas. Crushed shell is a good plant food for crops like tomatoes and worms like it in the wormery or compost bin. Eggcellent!
